A minivan transporting 12 illegal migrants crashed in Ruse on Friday evening, Border Police confirmed for BTA. No one was injured.

The driver - a 22-year-old Syrian residing legally in Germany - was being watched by the authorities on suspected trafficking of illegal migrants. Around 9 pm on Friday, border police signaled him to stop near the Danube Bridge border crossing. He drove on and later crashed the minivan. 

Twelve illegal migrants, including three underage persons, were found in the vehicle. They were from Syria and Iraq; there was also a woman from Turkiye.

 The driver and the migrants were detained.
