Clinically significant pollen background may develop in the middle of the month, triggered by blossoming ragweed, which is highly allergizing, says a forecast for August which was published on the website of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD) on Tuesday.
Ragweed now blossoms earlier than before and in more places. This year, the process is expected to start around August 10-15. In most parts of Bulgaria, the blossoming will be at its height in the second half of the month.
With its strong allergic effect, ragweed pollen causes more and more people to complain of allergic reactions in August and September. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures to curb the spread of the plant, NCIPD says.
Mugwort began to blossom around July 20 and the process continues in August. Mugwort pollen concentration in the air is peaking in the first half of August, NCIPD says.
