Sunday's performance by José Carreras and Romanian soprano Diana Tugui ended with five encores. The event was held on Sunday evening at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia and was organized by Fest Team and the Sofia Opera and Ballet.

David Giménez conducted the Sofia Opera and Ballet the orchestra for the event.

The great tenor José Carreras presented works by mainly Italian composers, including Eldo di Lazzaro, Furio Rendine, Alexandre Derevitsky, Rodolfo Falvo, Nicola Valente and Eduardo di Capua with the famous "O Sole Mio".

Carreras also sang the musical arias Some Enchanted Evening from Richard Rodgers/Oscar Hammerstein's South Pacific, as well as The Impossible Dream from Mitch Leigh's Man of La Mancha.

Agustín Lara's Granada was the first of five encores Carreras performed tp the standing crowd. The concert ended with Frank Sinatra's My Way.

Deserved applause was also received by Diana Tugui, who sang music by Gioachino Rossini, George Gershwin, Leo Delibes and Johann Strauss. The Sofia Opera and Ballet Orchestra also performed solo music by Georges Bizet, Dmitri Shostakovich and Strauss.
