site.bta30,000 Will Contest 5,000-Plus Municipal Councillor Seats in Local Elections
A little over 30,000 candidates will contest 5,053 seats for municipal councillors across the whole country in the upcoming October 29 local elections. Some 1,360 will contest 265 mayoral seats. Some 6,900 mayoralty mayors will vie for 3,041 seats and around 400 for mayors of boroughs in Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, said Central Election Commission Spokesperson Rossitsa Mateva on Tuesday.
She said that these figures are not final as candidates are still being checked whether they meet requirements.
