Three wildfires in Haskovo Region are still active, Regional Governor Krassimir Angelov told a news briefing Thursday morning. Dabovets village near Lyubimets is experiencing the worst situation. Heavy tracked vehicles from Burgas and the Maritsa East mines will be sent there because of the rugged terrain. Strong winds have fanned up the fire that started from Susam village near Mineralni Bani. The blaze is approaching Garvanovo village, where dry grass, stubble and unharvested fields are on fire. Another fire that is still out of control is in the area of Rumelia village near Madzharovo, where a mixed forest is affected, said Angelov.

Responding to requests from the Regional Governor, 22 service persons of the Land Forces with five motor vehicles on Thursday morning joined the fire fighting effort in Madzharovo and Lyubimets municipalities, the Defence Ministry said in a press release. Another 30 troops are combing an area near Klokotnitsa village for a missing person.

A fire that erupted near Sapareva Banya on Tuesday afternoon was put out on Wednesday evening, the southwestern town’s mayor Kalin Gelev told BTA. The fall in temperatures helped cope with the disaster.
