A total of 30 people were detained on Monday in an operation against left-wing Marxist-Leninist terrorist group Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front (DHKP-C) carried out in 11 districts in different parts of Turkiye, Turkish broadcaster CNN-Turk reported on Tuesday.

The investigation was undertaken on the orders of the Prosecutor General's Office in the city of Izmir, western Turkiye. The operation was carried out by gendarmerie counter-terrorism teams under the coordination of Turkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT). The operation was carried out in order to prevent the possibility of new members joining the DHKP-C, as well as the group's activities, including its financing.

Arrest warrants have been issued for a total of 35 suspects. Efforts to arrest the remaining five are continuing.

The Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front is listed as a terrorist group by the European Union, Turkiye and the United States. The group preaches Marxist ideology and is behind a number of attacks on government facilities.
