site.btaBulgaria and Romania Outline Measures to Guarantee Security after Lift of Internal Border Control
At a meeting in Ruse (on the Danube) on Thursday, representatives of the ministries of interior of Bulgaria and Romania reviewed cross-border police cooperation and outlined measures to guarantee security once the internal border control is lifted when the two countries join Schengen. New forms of interaction were also discussed, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said in a press release.
The sides gave a high mark to the existing cooperation and the best European practices being applied.
An agreement was reached to strengthen joint actions in all fields, hold meetings periodically to review the cooperation, and update the bilateral agreements in the context of Schengen membership.
