The diplomatic institutes of Bulgaria and Romania signed a cooperation agreement in Bucharest on Thursday. The signing took place during a round table marking one year of strategic partnership between the two countries.
"We signed such a memorandum more than 15 years ago. But given these fast-changing times, at this very moment and in this context, we decided to sign again, focusing on the future," said the Director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, Tanya Mihaylova.
"Cooperation, connectivity, security. These are the three key words of our cooperation, regardless of what area we are talking about," said the Director General of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, Liliana Popescu Birlan.
Attending the round table were Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova, the Romanian Foreign Ministry's State Secretary Daniela Gitman, Bulgarian Ambassador Radko Vlaykov, and Romanian Ambassador Brandusa Predescu. Starting with a minute of silence in memory of Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte, the event focused on security in the Black Sea and strengthening NATO's eastern flank, Schengen, among others.
