Bulgarian boxers marked another impressive performance on the international stage by earning seven medals at the Balkan Juniour and Youth Boxing Championships in Ramniku Valcea, Romania. The Bulgarian athletes were led by Olympic champion Petar Lesov and world champion Detelin Dalakliev. 

Four gold medals went to juniors Angel Dimitrov (50 kg), Yanko Iliev (52) and Roselin Bachevski (+80), as well as Milena Nikolova (52) in the girls' division, who remained without an opponent for the final. In the juniors, Vittorio Iliev (63.5 kg) won the silver medal and Miroslav Dimitrov (75) took bronze. Hristea Ninova (50) also finished third in the girls' event.

Nearly 90 boxers from 10 countries took part in the Balkan Championships of the European Boxing Confederation (EUBC).
