Vice President Iliana Iotova will be in Albania from September 14 to 16, the President’s press secretariat announced on Wednesday. The Vice President's visit comes on the eve of the national census in Albania - an important moment for the Bulgarian national minority. The Vice President was the first Bulgarian statesperson to visit the Bulgarian community in Albania immediately after its official recognition in 2017. The visit to Tirana will also coincide with the presentation of the book in Albanian by Assoc. Prof. Spas Tashev "The Bulgarians in Albania". In the village of Golemo Ostrani, Iliana Iotova will meet with representatives of the Bulgarian national minority from the Golo Bardo region. Iotova will open the new school year at the Bulgarian Sunday school in Elbasan.

In Tirana, she is scheduled to meet with President Bajram Begaj, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla, Minister of Interior Taulant Balla. The Vice President will hold talks with the Rector of the University of Tirana Prof. Artan Hoxha. Bulgarian language is studied at the university. The delegation led by the Vice President includes professors from Bulgarian universities and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
