site.btaParliamentary Committee to Hold Hearing in Connection with 2015 Poisoning of Arms Trader Gebrev

February 9 (BTA) - The
parliamentary commission for control of the security services
will hold a hearing next Thursday in connection with recent
media reports about arms trader Emiliyan Gebrev, said GERB floor
 leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov on Saturday.

The reports suggest a link between the April 2015 poisoning of
Gebrev, the Skripal case and a visit by a Russian military
intelligence officer to Bulgaria just days before the incident
with Gebrev.

"Capital Weekly" wrote that Dunarit owner Emiliyan Gebrev, his
son and the company's production director were poisoned in 2015
but the case remained unsolved. Recently, the investigation was
reopened due to suspicions that a substance from the Novichok
family had been used against Gebrev.

Tsvetanov said: "I am convinced that the Bulgarian prosecution,
the State Agency for National Security, our British colleagues
and EU's intelligence community are working together." RY/PP
