of Cinema Attendance
in 2018


Sofia, February 21 (BTA) - Cinema viewers declined by 11.5 per cent during the entire 2018 compared to 2017, according to statistics from cinema halls across the country. The number of viewers was close to the 2013 figure, when it stood at approximately 1.76 million.

The box office reported 46.07 million leva from ticket sales which was 10 per cent below the 2017 figure and was close to the 2015 level of 45.9 million leva.

In 2018, viewers of Bulgarian films were 35 per cent fewer than in 2017 and totalled 388,006. The box office from these films saw a 1 million leva decline from 2017, to 3.065 million leva.

Out of the 30 Bulgarian films shown in cinema halls last year, the most popular were Attraction (112,934 viewers and 869,030 leva in the box office), Revolution X (54 ,75 viewers and 450,692 leva in the box office), Knockout or Everything She Wrote (41,836 viewers and 348,757 leva in the box office), Bubble Gum (39,195 viewers and 306,39 leva revenue) and Directions (37, 623 viewers and 314,272 leva in the box office).

The most popular films in 2018 were Avengers: Infinity War (145,446 viewers and 1,649,463 leva from the box office), Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (170,178 viewers and 500,424 leva in the box office) and Venom (133,619 viewers and 1,460,440 leva in the box office). LN
