The seawater and beaches in resorts near Varna are clean, the Varna Regional Administration said in a press release on Thursday after a meeting of the headquarters for the implementation of the disasters and accidents protection plan. After the incident on March 31 when fuel oil products polluted a section between the second and third jetties in Varna, daily monitoring of the coast from Byala to the Golden Sands resort has been carried out.
The partial state of disaster will be lifted after the removal of the bags with the collected waste from the affected area in Varna, the headquarters decided. The concessionaire of the beach has been instructed to hand over for disposal all oil residue products collected on the beach.
The Municipality of Varna has again photographed the territory from the embarkments to the city lighthouse, Galata, the Asparuhovo and Romantica sand strips from the air. The results show that there is nothing alarming about the state of the water.
Maritime Administration has completed the inspection of the ships, but the perpetrator of the pollution has not been identified. The findings of the specialists will be handed over to the Economic Police department.
Members of the headquarters were presented with a satellite photo of the Varna Bay, which shows that there are no oil pollution spots.
The Black Sea Basin Directorate and the Environmental Inspectorate in Varna will also send the results of their inspections to the prosecution service and the Economic Police department. In the monitored area the experts of both institutions found that there are no visible residues of oil products on the coast and in the sea. One-millimeter fuel oil balls were found on the Rakitnika and Shkorpilovtsi beaches.
