President Rumen Radev received visiting Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanar, to discuss prospects for expanding cooperation between Bulgaria and Slovakia in the economy, energy, innovation, automotive industry, and pharmaceuticals, the President's press office said on Monday. The two officials concurred that the peoples of Bulgaria and Slovakia are linked by centuries-old historical and cultural ties, and today the two countries cooperate fruitfully in various spheres with the potential to expand and build on the partnerships.

Radev and Blanar highlighted the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and Slovakia within the European Union, as well as the need to strengthen the bilateral political dialogue, including at the highest level, in order to bring new dynamics to the bilateral relations.

There was a common position that the war in Ukraine has no military solution, therefore an end to hostilities and the search for a peaceful solution by means of diplomacy is needed as soon as possible. The negative economic and social consequences of this war affect the EU and especially the countries of the Eastern European region, Radev and Blanar further noted.
