May 14 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev and Airbus Defense
and Space CEO Dirk Hoke discussed here on Tuesday the
integration of Bulgaria's defence industry and science into
common projects within the EU, Radev's press secretariat
reported.
Industrial cooperation is a factor for upholding Europe's
positions in space exploration, innovations, climate monitoring
and environmental protection. Another important field where
Europe should seek synergy is the security sector, including the
creation of a common European fighter jet, it transpired from
the discussion. Radev underscored the Bulgarian engineers' and
software experts' excellent experience and expertise and their
ability to offer the best conditions for implementing joint
European projects in these fields.
The Bulgarian President noted the possibility for Bulgaria to
enhance its partnership with Airbus in modernizing its systems
for monitoring rivers and dams, preventing floods, protecting
its forests and fighting illegal logging.
On his part, Hoke outlined the perspectives for deepening
cooperation with Bulgaria in protecting the EU's external
borders by offering modern integrated systems for monitoring and
control, preventing human trafficking and illegal migration,
