site.btaTourism Minister Miloshev Expects Good Winter Season, 5% Increase in Tourists
"My expectations are extremely positive for this winter season. In the Tourism Ministry, if all is well and the weather is with us, we expect an increase of about 5% in tourist arrivals, which is a very good sign," caretaker Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev told BTA here on Wednesday. He took part in a meeting with representatives of institutions involved in the winter season in the ski resort of Borovets.
Minister Miloshev said that the big news of the day was that the concessionaire of Sofia Airport has announced that the new parking lot is zero-priced for this winter season. According to him, this is an additional relief for a more competitive price of tourist packages for the ski season.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Samokov police department, the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA), hotel owners, the Regional Health Inspectorate - Sofia Region, the Consumer Protection Commission, the National Revenue Agency (NRA), the Labour Inspectorate, the concessionaire Borosport AD and the Municipality of Samokov.
During the meeting it was pointed out that there will be a police ski patrol that will monitor the ski slopes.
The caretaker Minister said it was not good news that after December 15, the price of ski services (passes and tickets) in Bulgaria's oldest resort will be increased by about 10%. This is due to the abolition of the differential VAT rate from January 1, 2025.
