The parliamentary group of Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF) will fulfill its commitment under the governance agreement until the convergence report for the Eurozone is received, according to a DRF declaration read out to reporters by party member Hasan Azis on Tuesday evening following a meeting of the political formation’s collective bodies.
DRF Floor Leader Dzhevdet Chakarov said that DRF’s support is focused on Bulgaria’s entry into the Eurozone, with the timeframe set until the convergence report is received.
DRF insists that the parties in the ruling majority strictly adhere to the clauses of the agreement and ensure that all governance decisions are made by consensus. "We do not accept proposals being put to a vote that have not been discussed in the full format of the Joint Governance Council and [those] supported by MRF – New Beginning without their support being requested."
"By agreeing to form a parliamentary majority for the establishment of a regular government, we clearly justified our decision – to end the political crisis in the country, to adopt a regular [state] budget as a prerequisite for entering the Eurozone, to stop the undue influence of politicians over independent governing bodies, and to dismantle the corrupt Peevski model," the DRF declaration further said.
