Approximately 720 polling stations are expected to be opened outside Bulgaria, with the final number to be determined by the Central Election Commission (CEC), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elena Shekerletova said here on Wednesday, speaking during a regular meeting convened by caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev to prepare for the upcoming snap elections on October 27, 2024.

Shekerletova said the deadline for submitting preliminary applications for voting abroad has expired and voting machines are expected to be used in more than 150 of the polling stations.

Caretaker Minister of Innovations and Growth Rosen Karadimov confirmed that all election deadlines are being met. Caretaker Minister of Electronic Government Valentin Mundrov said that CEC has received the voting machines and started their certification. This will happen in a secure environment at the e-Government Ministry's building, with a new camera installed to stream live video and audio.

On October 1, work started on configuring the devices for live video surveillance and recording after the end of the election day in the section election commissions. The transportation of the video surveillance devices to the regional administrations is scheduled to take place after October 16.
