site.btaNational Register of Pedophilia Cases to Be Made as Soon as Possible, Caretaker PM Says

A National Register will be prepared as soon as possible of cases of pedophilia committed in Bulgaria or in relation to Bulgarian citizens abroad who have sought help and support, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said during Question Time in Parliament on Friday.  Bulgarian children are the most valuable thing, he noted.

In July 2023, Parliament passed conclusively amendments to the Protection from Domestic Violence Act tasking the Interior Ministry with creating and maintaining a National Information System for the Prevention and Protection from Pedophilia and a National Register of cases of pedophilia committed on the territory of the country or in relation to Bulgarian citizens abroad who have sought help and support. The deadline for implementation was July 2024.
