Business Climate
Improves
in January

Sofia, January 30 (BTA) - Bulgaria's General Business Climate Index rose by 1.4 points in January 2020 compared with December 2019 thanks to improved business conditions in industry, the National Statistical Institute reported on Thursday.

The index component which describes the business climate in industry went up by 5 points as a result of more positive assessments and more optimistic expectations of industrial entrepreneurs about the condition of their companies. Their forecasts about exports and production activity in the next three months are positive as well.

The index component which describes the business climate in construction dropped by 1 point due to not-so-positive assessments of construction entrepreneurs about the current state of their companies.

The index component which describes the business climate in retail trade decreased by 1.9 points as a result of more reserved assessments of retailers about the current state of their companies. Their forecasts for the next six months remain unchanged, and their expectations about the supply orders which they will place with domestic partners in the next three months are positive.

The index component which describes the business climate in the services sector remains at the same level as a month earlier. Business owners' assessments and expectations about the condition of their companies in the services sector became more moderate.
