Nearly one hundred exhibits from the vault of the Iskra History Museum in Kazanlak will be displayed in a large-scale world exhibition of artifacts of Thracian treasures at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles at the end of the year, said the Municipality of Kazanlak on its official Facebook page.

The exhibits will be absent from the museum in Kazanlak for a period of one year. The USA exposition has been in the works for more than four years and will allow the whole world to view the art of the ancient Thracians. Artifacts will be carefully transported, and the J. Paul Getty Museum, in addition to insuring the exhibits, will also cover all costs of conservation and restoration of the objects before, during and after the exhibition travels. The Los Angeles museum has committed to compensate the Iskra History Museum in Kazanlak for the time in which its most valuable objects will be absent from their permanent exposition, the local administration said.

The Iskra History Museum in Kazanlak is among the richest regional museums in Bulgaria, according to the official website of the cultural institute. It houses over 70,000 original exhibits reflecting the rich material and spiritual culture of the region. The vault hall displays the latest gold, silver and bronze finds from the region's Thracian tomb temples. These include the unique gold crown of Seutus III, his helmet and knee pads, complete gold and silver horse armor, as well as a rare collection of coins and other objects from the Thracian era. The museum preserves, researches and promotes the entire historical heritage of the Kazanlak region, including all Thracian tombs from the Valley of the Thracian Rulers.
