The Romanian National Meteorological Administration has issued an orange code warning for high temperatures for Bucharest and 16 other counties of Romania. It is expected to be dangerously hot on Tuesday in Tulcea, Constanta, Galati, Braila, Ialomita, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Ilfov, Buzău, Vrancea, Prahova, Dambovita, Teleorman, Arges, Olt and Dolj. The Romanian capital recorded a temperature of 42C on Monday, June 10. In the south of the country, 38 temperature records were registered.

A yellow code warning for storms is issued for more than half the country. Spells with precipitation, stronger wind, hail and thunderstorms are expected in the districts of Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, North and Central Moldova. Power outages are possible.

Wind, hailstorms and heavy rains wreaked havoc in several counties across Romania, where a red code of weather warning was issued. Gusts reached speeds of up to 90 km/h in places.

Meteorologists predict that this will be the hottest summer not only in Romania but also in Europe.
