At a solemn ceremony President Rumen Radev honoured Thursday folk singers Kalinka Zgurova from the Strandzha Folklore Region and Lilyana Galevska from the Shop Folklore Region, the musician and composer Konstantin Tsekov, the choreographer Anatoly Klochkov and the community activists Denka Evstateeva and Anita Tarasevich with the Presidential Badge of Honour.

The head of State pointed out that the honorees are worthy role models in their fields. “You inspire and lead by example. Your outstanding achievements and the dedication with which you involve and develop young people deserve respect and appreciation,” Radev said.

Zgurova was awarded for the significant contribution of her overall creativity and activity in the preservation of the singing tradition and folk songs of the Strandzha Folklore Region, as well as for her role in the development and promotion of the value of Bulgarian cultural heritage.

Tsekov was awarded for his significant overall contribution as a respected and recognized musician, composer, arranger, vocalist and producer, as well as for his active role in the creative enrichment, development and consolidation of the contemporary image of Bulgarian musical art.

Galevska was honored for the significant contribution of her overall creativity and activity in the preservation of the singing tradition and folk songs of the Shop Folklore Region, as well as for her role in the development and promotion of the value of the cultural heritage of Bulgaria.

Klochkov was awarded for his 75th anniversary, for his significant contribution as a choreographer, teacher and artistic director, as well as for his active role in promoting contemporary education and the creative image of Bulgarian dance art.

Evstatieva and Tarasevich were honored with the award for their significant contribution as an active worker of the contemporary national Chitalishtes (peculiarly Bulgarian educational and cultural community centres functioning as voluntary civil society associations), as well as for their significant role in the formation of the contemporary image of the Bulgarian national Chitalishte and the preservation of the native Chitalishte traditions.
