site.btaParliament Approves in Principle Easter Supplements for Pensioners

Parliament on Friday adopted in principle amendments to the 2024 Public Social Insurance Act, allocating an Easter supplement of BGN 75 for over 500,000 pensioners. The bill sponsored by GERB and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms was backed by 146 MPs, two of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria were against and 26 MPs of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria abstained.

Some BGN 40 million will be needed to pay the one-off supplement to pensioners whose pension is below the line of BGN 526. The funds will be at the expense of the public social insurance budget for 2024.  Some 534,000 pensioners will be eligible for the bonus.. 

A proposal by Vazrazhdane for an Easter supplement of BGN 100 for all pensioners was rejected.
