site.btaCol. Danail Baev Promoted to Brigadier General, Appointed Head of EUMS Intelligence Directorate

President Rumen Radev, who is Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Wednesday promoted Colonel Danail Baev to Brigadier General, the President's press secretariat said. Radev appointed Gen. Baev head of the Intelligence Directorate of the European Union Military Staff (EUMS) effective April 1.

"Intelligence and the provision of timely, reliable and objective information is the key to preventing and managing crises, to success in any military operation, to guaranteeing our security," Radev said in his address. Today's complex and dynamic global security environment requires ever higher intelligence results, which "means high professional qualifications and personal qualities of commanders at all levels", the President said.

Radev congratulated Baev and praised his efforts for the development of Bulgaria's defence intelligence. "Your new position as Director of the EUMS Intelligence Directorate is a recognition for Bulgaria, as well as a continuation of its commitment to ensuring the EU's collective security," the President said.

Gen. Baev said he would continue working to enhance the prestige of Bulgaria's Armed Forces in the European institutions and the EU intelligence community.
