A court in Edirne has ordered two Bulgarian nationals arrested on heroin trafficking charges, the Anadolu Agency reported Tuesday. After receiving an alert for attempted drug trafficking on a bus, law enforcers stopped a bus from Istanbul to Bulgaria on the Edirne-Kapikule motorway. Three of the passengers, all of whom Bulgarian nationals, were detained, but only two were found to be carrying heroin (1.5 kg) in their clothes.
The two Bulgarians will be put on trial for illegal drug trade. The third Bulgarian has been released but has been placed under surveillance and is prohibited from leaving Turkiye.
