Documentary about Sculptor Emil Popov to Be Screened in Sofia

A documentary titled The Sculptor and His Inspiration which tells about the life and work of sculptor Emil Popov will be screened at the Odeon cinema in Sofia on February 9, the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA) said on Thursday.

The film is directed by Atanas Kiryakov. Dimitar Mitov is the chief cameraman and Theodosii Spassov is the film score composer.

Emil Popov was born in 1951 in Kyustendil. He graduated from the National Academy of Arts with Sculpture. Professor at the Department of Sculpture at the National Academy of Arts. Since 1972, he has participated in Bulgaria’s artistic life and in every major UBA exhibition. He presented numerous solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. Popov's works are owned by the National Art Gallery, Sofia City Art Gallery, other galleries across the country, the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, the national museums in Warsaw and Prague, the Dante Museum in Ravenna, the MOST Museum in Norway, the collections of Peter Ludwig in Aachen (Germany), and Hugo Wooten in Belgium.
