An embroidery festival will be held in the Svishtov village of Vardim between July 26 to 28, the organizers said on Tuesday. "The festival provides a forum for the particularly colourful part of our life and tradition. We will also take a look at herbalism, the preserved folk knowledge about wild plants and their use in everyday life", said the organizers.

During the festival, a variety of activities will be presented, such as a short thematic talk with the participation of prominent ethnographers, exhibitions, costume reviews and workshops, with the focus of the festival to be on authentic needlework and its modern interpretations.

A concert by the folk dance ensemble Tvoretsat with choreographer Yavor Uzunov will open the festival, while the second day will include a full programme of activities for all guests, including the dance performance The Magical Tale Elbetica - the House of God.

Admission is free for all guests of the event.

The festival is organized by the History in Embroidery Foundation.
