Tourism Minister Zaritza Dinkova and the governors of the coastal regions of Burgas and Varna, Plamen Yanev and Andriyana Andreeva, as well as Veselin Dimitrov of the regional government of Dobrich (Northeast Bulgaria) discussed preparations for the upcoming 2024 summer season, the Tourism Ministry said in a press release on Monday. Yanev and Andreeva stressed that one of the main challenges they are facing is the safety and cleanliness of the beaches, for which concessions have not been awarded and must therefore be maintained by the regional governments.
Dinkova assured the governors that they will be informed in due time which beaches in their regions will not be awarded a concession in 2024. The aim is to secure lifeguards for those beaches as soon as possible.
Dinkova stressed that early preparation for the summer season is key and has therefore sent a meeting invitation to the Regional Development and Public Works Ministry, the Health Ministry, and the Environment and Waters Ministry. The meeting will be held under the auspices of Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and will discuss possible solutions to long-standing problems related to infrastructure, water supply, and posting of medical and police officers during the summer season.
