No violations were detected during a police raid at two nightclubs in the Sunny Beach tourist resort and Sozopol, which were inspected for the sale of nitrogen oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday. The only sanctions resulting from the police raid, imposed by the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) officials, were for indoor smoking.

The Regional Directorate reported that preventive police measures against the sale of laughing gas are already yielding results. The joint actions involve the General Directorate National Police, the Economy Police and Criminal Police Departments with the Regional Directorate in Burgas, RHI, the Regional Food Safety Directorate, Burgas Customs, and others.

The specialized action is part of a series of planned police raids aimed at neutralizing laughing gas balloon sales. Since the inspections began, 20,000 vials of nitrogen oxide have been discovered during numerous raids in night clubs, not only at the Sunny Beach resort but also across the entire southern Black Sea coast.
