The premiere of Andrey Andonov's series The Way, dedicated to the first Olympic title for Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics premiered in Sofia on Monday. The guests at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre saw footage of the Bulgarian ensemble winning the gold medal in Tokyo.

On August 8, 2021, Simona Dyankova, Laura Traets, Madlen Radukanova, Stefani Kiryakova and Erika Zafirova made history in Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics, after taking the all-around title at Olympic Games in the Japanese capital.

The series which consists of 8 episodes will be broadcast on bTV in 2024.

The event was honoured by President Rumen Radev and his wife Desislava Radeva, Vice President Iliana Iotova, Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev, Deputy Sports Minister Prof. Daniela Dasheva, Deputy Interior Minister Kiril Tsenkin, Palms Bet representatives, former mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova, Ambassador of Japan Hisashi Michigamijournalists, public figures, athletes.

"Our diamond girls, their coaches and the leadership of the federation deserve recognition not only for the huge success they achieved, but also for the example they set for us and the next generations, for effort, talent, self-sacrifice and a strong Bulgarian spirit," said President Rumen Radev at the event.

He added that the Olympics in Tokyo brought back the hope that Bulgaria is a strong sports nation, and expressed hope that our athletes will perform well at the games in Paris this year.
