Bad weather has caused many disruptions in Romania. 19 sections of the national road network remain closed. Road restrictions are in place in the counties of Bacau, Constanta, Braila, Galatz and Vaslui. Traffic has also been suspended in Tulcea county, where the snow depth has reached some two metres, the Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said. Some 53 localities have no electricity.
A yellow alert for bad weather is in force for the counties of Constanta and Galatz. There, as well as in the counties of Braila and Calarasi, schools remain closed on Monday because most of the roads are still covered with a thick layer of snow and there are numerous breakdowns in the electricity grid. More than 300,000 people have no electricity.
On the Romanian Black Sea coast, storms have toppled trees and blown away roof structures. In the city of Constanta, thousands of people have been left without fresh water and electricity. Some 51,000 households are affected, Digi24 said.
The ports of Midia and Mangalia remain closed due to bad weather.
In the past 24 hours, heavy snowfall and strong winds have affected 177 localities in 22 counties, the Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations summarized.
