Defence Minister Todor Tagarev told journalists Wednesday he has accepted the resignation of one of his advisors in the Defence Ministry – Mustafa Emin. In his words, Emin decided to resign to avoid creating bottlenecks in the work of the Ministry and the cabinet.

Emin and the Defence Minister have recently come under pressure after a nurse in Sofia's Pirogov emergency hospital complained in a Facebook post that Emin used his position to secure preferential treatment for his child, who was with a minor injury, and threatened the hospital staff when they refused to do as asked. The nurse's post was reposted by the Pirogov Hospital, whose management said that the staff involved in the episode, acted by the established rules of procedure and while the minister's advisor did not act aggressively, he was verbally abusive.

In a letter, Tagarev asked Health Minister Hristo Hinkov to launch an inquiry into the case. The event was also the subject of comments in Parliament. Kostadin Angelov - Healthcare Committee Chairperson, and Hristo Gadzhev – Defence Committee Chairperson, demanded a reaction from Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov. Vazrazhdane also demanded the resignation of Minister Tagarev over what happened at the Pirogov Hospital.

Meanwhile, Emin said he would "defend his name and make sure to prove the truth about his communication with the Pirogov Hospital staff". He says he has become the target of a smear campaign and warns that "such campaigns will intensify and aim to undermine people's confidence, cause conflicts and provoke aggression".  He calls on people to stand up against this threat.
