site.btaSocialists Demand Joint Hearing of Defence Minister Tagarev by Two Parliamentary Committees

The BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party) for Bulgaria parliamentary group has addressed Boyko Borissov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy, and Hristo Gadzhev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence, with a request for a joint hearing of Defence Minister Todor Tagarev on issues related to national security, the BSP press centre said on Monday.

"In connection with the heightened public interest in national security and the challenges in the region, we address you with a request to hold a joint meeting of the Committee on Foreign Policy and the Committee on Defence of the 49th National Assembly to hear the Defence Minister Todor Tagarev on issues related to the national security of the Republic of Bulgaria, Bulgaria's positions on the new regional defence plans of NATO territory with designated high-readiness forces, as well as the security in the Black Sea region," the socialists write.

The political party insists on receiving an update in the context of the dynamics of events and the Minister's statements on the creation of conditions for the NATO battle group to be increased to a brigade with the involvement of allied formations, as well as the creation of a multinational divisional headquarters in the area of the military units near Kabile and Bezmer.
