On Monday, there was intense traffic at the border checkpoints of entry from Bulgaria to Turkiye as a result of the return of Turks living abroad to the country.

Turkish seasonal workers are travelling back home from European countries to Turkiye for the summer vacation, which has caused extremely intense traffic at the border points with Bulgaria.

Data from the directorate for customs and foreign trade in the Thrace region shows that the Kapakule/Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint was busiest.
To avoid traffic jams, two additional Kapakule border check counters have been opened. A total of 12 counters operate 24 hours a day, the Turkish customs authorities informed.

Traffic is also intense at Hamzabeyli/Lesovo border checkpoint.

Information from the Ihlas News Agency, based on reports by Turkish citizens, indicated that the wait at the Bulgarian border points from Europe to Turkiye is between one and a half to two hours. There were even longer queues at the borders with Serbia.

Towards the end of the month, the intensive passenger flow from Turkiye will be in the opposite direction - to Bulgaria.
