MP Kaflin: "ABV Will Be in Opposition but Will Support Stability"

Varna, on the Black Sea, October 25 (BTA) - "GERB will most
probably form a right-of-centre coalition with which ABV will
have quite a few differences," MP elect Ivailo Kalfin said here
on Saturday.

"This does not mean that our [parliamentary] group will be in
confrontation with the government," Kalfin pointed out. As he
put it, "ABV will be in opposition but will support the
country's stability, setting an example of responsible conduct."

"What matters most at present to the country is to have a stable
government because urgent measures have to be taken on a number
of problems which are neither Left nor Right but national,"
Kalfin observed.

He said that the ABV Parliamentary Group will have its own Code
of Ethics. The document will be approved on Monday, when the
leadership of the group will be elected as well.

Kalfin specified that the Code will focus on the transparency in
the MPs' work and will require them always to disclose any
conflict of interest.

He argued that if any of the MPs leaves the group, he or she
should better resign from Parliament altogether rather than
become an independent. "The Code, however, can only recommend
this because, under the Constitution, MPs may not be obliged to
act that way," Kalfin said.
