Svetlozara Leseva Receives
Annual Krastan Dyankov
Translation Award


Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - Svetlozara Leseva received the
Krastan Dyankov Translation Award of the Elizabeth Kostova
Foundation at an award ceremony here Thursday. The prize, which
has been given annually since 2007 for an outstanding
translation of a contemporary novel of high literary quality
from English into Bulgarian, was conferred on Leseva for her
translation of "In the Shadow of the Banyan" by Vaddey Ratner.


The Foundation's special encouraging award went to Nadezhda
Rozova for her translation of "A Tale for the Time Being" by
Ruth Ozeki.

The other nominees for the Krastan Dyankov Translation Award
were: Angel Igov for the translation of "The Book of Evidence"
by John Banville, Angelin Michev for the translation of "The
Schopenhauer Cure" by Irvin Yalom, Elena Pavlova for the
translation of "Blindsight" by Peter Watts, Milena Popova for
the translation of "The Summer Without Men" by Siri Hustvedt,
and Vladimir Molev for the translation of "Tell the Wolves I'm
Home" by Carol Rifka Brunt.

The Krastan Dyankov Translation Award is supported by the
America for Bulgaria Foundation, the Lois Roth Endowment, the US
Embassy in Bulgaria and the Culture of Wine Foundation.
