PM Names Deputy Prime Minister Buchvarova as Interior Minister,
Urges Interior Ministry Chief Secretary,
SANS Chief to Resign

Sofia, March 5 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov nominated
Deputy Prime Minister Roumyana Buchvarova as Interior Minister
in Parliament on Thursday. Also, Borissov demanded the
resignations of Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Svetlozar
Lazarov and State Agency for National Security (SANS) head
Vladimir Pissanchev.

Interior Minister Vesselin Vouchkov resigned on Wednesday after
his proposal to replace the Chief Secretary of the Interior
Ministry was apparently rejected by Prime Minister Boyko
Borissov.

Borissov said it took him seconds to accept Vouchkov's
resignation, yet again stressing that the timing was wrong and
the resignation was unexpected. On Wednesday, the Azeri
President and the FBI Director were paying a visit here.

Meanwhile, Borissov said that Pissanchev had received good marks
from the FBI and the British secret services.

The Prime Minister said there will be replacements in the
security sector when there are enough arguments. "I said that
when there are enough arguments, no one will be untouchable, if
they endanger the stability, which is a priority for the
government."

Earlier, Reformist Bloc co-floor leader Radan Kanev said that
Borissov promised to replace Lazarov and Pisanchev in a
conversation the two had on Wednesday. /MORE
