Meetings of  Vietnamese Prime Minister in Sofia

Sofia, June 5 (BTA) - The prime ministers of Bulgaria Boyko
Borissov and of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung defined bilateral
commodity exchange as unsatisfactory and agreed on promotion of
cooperation in the fields of tourism, the IT sector, energy,
green energies, culture, sports and education. This transpired
at a news briefing given after their meeting in Sofia. The
Vietnamese Prime Minister is on a visit here along with members
of the Vietnamese Government.

Apart from the support, given to Vietnam regarding the latter's
recognition as a country with market economy and its right to
participate in the European market, Bulgaria also insists on
compliance with international agreements, contracts and UN
resolutions regarding the problems and the tensions in the East
or South China Sea, the Bulgarian Prime Minister also commented.
He voiced the view that the dispute between Vietnam and China
should be peacefully resolved.

Borissov stressed on the close cooperation between Bulgaria and
Vietnam and recalled that over 35,000 Vietnamese nationals
studied here and 5,000 of them acquired university diplomas.

Meeting Bulgarian Economy Minister Bozhidar Loukarski,
Vietnamese Industry and Trade Minister Vu Huy Hoang said that
they wish to import Vietnamese goods via Bulgaria to the Balkan
and the European markets. During the talks Loukarski noted that
Vietnam is Bulgaria's strategic trade and economic partner. The
guest said that the Vietnamese side wishes to strengthen
bilateral trade and economic relations. The implementation of
the new model of economic cooperation between Bulgaria and
Vietnam in the areas of bilateral trade, energy and tourism,
agreed in 2013, will play a determining role in this process.

"We undertook a number of measures to implement this model, one
of which envisaged import of semi-finished Vietnamese goods in
Bulgaria, that are to be finished by the latter and offered on
the Bulgarian and in the rest of Europe," Minister Hoang said.
Minister Loukarski voiced readiness for the development of this
concept in its full potential adding that the industrial zones
in Vidin and Bourgas and the Varna Port, to which the Vietnamese
side shows interest, offers specific possibilities for its
implementation in logistic terms.

The two ministers decided to work for organizing a business
forum in Hanoi by the end of the year.

Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov met with his Vietnamese
counterpart Justice Minister Ha Hung Cuong, the Justice Minister
said.

Ivanov praised the proposals of his Vietnamese counterpart for a
review and analysis of the Agreement on Legal Assistance in
Civil, Family and Criminal Matters, signed by the two countries
in 1986, and discussion of the need of its possible update.

The Vietnamese Justice Minister showed interest in the Bulgarian
experience regarding the implementation of the United Nations
Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) of 2003 and the organizing
of training of magistrates and lawyers in Bulgaria.
