EWRC Set on Minimum Increase of Electricity from July

Sofia, June 8 (BTA) - The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission
(EWRC)
has published a final proposal for the electricity price as of
July.

Despite the objections of energy companies that they incur
operational losses, the energy regulator left unchanged the
prices in its initial proposal.

According to the proposal, the price of electricity for
household users will increase by an average of 1.99 per cent as
of July.

For the CEZ company, which distributes electricity to Western
Bulgaria, including the capital Sofia, the proposed hike is 1.53
per cent. For the clients of EVN in South-Central and
Southeastern Bulgaria, the figure is 1.22 per cent, and for
Energo-Pro in North-Central and Northeastern Bulgaria, 3.64 per
cent. ERP Zlatni Piasaci, which distributes electricity to the
Golden Sands resort, is asked to decrease its rate by 2.93 per
cent.

The public obligation charge for non-household consumers will
increase from 18.93
leva/MWh to 40.21 leva /MWH. Large companies have already warned
that the hike will push up their operational costs.

The National Electric Company (NEK) objected against slashing
prices by 4.3 per cent for end suppliers, from 125.32 leva/MWh
to 119.87 leva/MWh. NEK is also critical of the mechanism for
calculating the electricity price.

EWRC's proposal will be discussed publicly on June 10 and the
final decision will be announced on June 30.
