Bulgarian Cartography Exhibition Opens in UN HQs in New York

Sofia, June 19 (BTA) - A Bulgarian exhibition of old maps and
engravings of the Black Sea from the 2nd until the 19th century
opened in the United Nations headquarters in New York, the
Diplomatic Institute with the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said on
 Friday.

The exhibition, entitled "The Sea Brings All that is Distance
Together," was opened by Bulgaria's Permanent Representative in
the UN Stefan Tafrov and Tanya Mihailova, head of the Diplomatic
 Institute.

The event was attended by dozens of guests, among them the UN
Permanent Representatives of Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Belgium,
Morocco, Romania. The exhibition is on display until June 26.

A donation of modern Bulgarian maps for the UN Library selected
by the Bulgarian Cartography Association is presented at a
special display. The donation is made on the occasion of the
International Map Year.

After the UN, the exhibition will be shown in the main centres
where expatriate Bulgarians live in the United States, as well
as in the Member States of the Parliamentary Assembly of Black
Sea Economic Cooperation.
