11th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media to Be Held in Athens
Sofia, September 30 (BTA) - The 11th edition of the World
Meeting of Bulgarian Media will be held in Athens from November
4 to 8, BTA Director General Maxim Minchev told a news
conference on Wednesday.
The forum is organized by the Bulgarian News Agency and the
Association of Bulgarian Media Abroad.
This year's edition is tilted "Media and Cultural Differences.
Dialogue between Neighbours". The programme will include
cultural and business events. "We cannot escape from the topical
issues of the recent months - good neighbourly relations,
refugees, migration, of media inclusive," Minchev said.
Commenting on the selection of Athens as a venue, he said that
Bulgaria and Greece are traditionally related and have a common
border and interests. Besides, there are thousand of Greek
companies conducting business in Bulgaria and Greece has the
third largest Bulgarian community. Therefore, the Bulgarian
media have always had good representation in Greece.
By tradition, over 150 Bulgarian journalists from the country
and the rest of the world will take part in the event: around 40
representatives of papers, magazines, e-zines and national
media.
The forum gathers together owners, chief editors, general and
executive directors and journalists from the major Bulgarian
media, located both in Bulgaria and abroad. Participating are
also statesmen, politicians, diplomats, business
representatives, intellectuals, media experts and eminent public
figures. The previous meetings were held in Sofia, Chicago,
Rome, Madrid, Varna and Bourgas, Vienna, Amsterdam, Bucharest,
Plovdiv and Veliko Turnovo, Bosilegrad and Tsaribrod.
