Ireland to Assist Bulgaria in Preparation of Bulgaria's Presidency of EU

Dublin/Sofia, October 2 (BTA) - Ireland will help Bulgaria in
its preparation for taking over the EU Presidency in 2018. This
will happen through exchange of experience between the two
countries' administrations and training of Bulgarian employees
at the Irish Institute of Public Administration, the press
service of the Council of Ministers said.

An agreement to this end was reached between Bulgarian Deputy
Prime Minister for coordination of European policies and
institutional issues Meglena Kuneva and Irish Minister for
European Affairs Dara Murphy. So far Ireland has had seven
successful EU presidencies and has always helped new member
states.

Kuneva and Murphy discussed the challenges before the EU,
including the migrant crisis and the future forum in the United
Kingdom on the country's EU membership.

Kuneva also conferred with Minister for Justice and Equality
Frances Fitzgerald. The two discussed the possibilities for
cooperation in the field of anti-corruption practices.

Kuneva met on Thursday with representatives of the Bulgarian
community in Ireland. The Bulgarians voiced satisfaction with
the possibility to vote in a referendum on e-voting saying that,
if introduced, it will substantially ease the voting procedure
for Bulgarians abroad.
