Central Election Commission Establishes Election Code Violation in Opening of MRF's Election Campaign
Sofia, October 3 (BTA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) has established a violation of the Election Code committed during the opening of the election campaign of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), CEC said Saturday. The violation consists in the use of a language other than Bulgarian during the election canvassing by the MRF and its leader Lyutvi Mestan.
The violation was established during an official check following alerts by the Council for Electronic Media, the IMRO - Bulgarian National Movement party, and MPs.
The Commission authorizes the CEC Chairman to elaborate acts on the established violation of the MRF and Mestan, which will be sent to the Regional Governor of Razgrad (Northeastern Bulgaria) for the issue of a penal decree.
The CEC decision is appealable before the Supreme Administrative Court.
