IMF Outlook: Bulgaria's Economy to Grow 1.7% in 2015, 1.9% in 2016
Washington, October 6 (BTA) - The International Monetary Fund
(IMF) expects Bulgaria's economy to grow by 1.7% in 2015, as
much as in 2014. This is contained in IMF's World Economy
Outlook, made public on Tuesday.
The Fund forecasts that Bulgaria's economic growth will pick up
to 1.9 per cent in 2016.
For European emerging and developing economies, the IMF expects
that growth will pick up from 2.8 per cent in 2014 to 3 per cent
in 2015. These include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro,
Poland, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.
The reports notes that consumer prices in Bulgaria dropped 0.8
per cent in 2015, while in 2016 they are projected to increase
by 0.6 per cent. In 2014, Bulgaria reported a deflation of 1.6
per cent.
For European developing economies excluding Albania, Bosnia,
Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro, the IMF projects that
inflation will drop from 3.8 per cent in 2014 to 2.9 per cent in
2015, and in 2016 it will pick up to 3.5 per cent.
The unemployment rate will edge down from 11.5 per cent in 2014,
to 10.3 per cent in 2015 and 9.7 per cent in 2016.
