Social Policy Minister Attends Environment, Health and Safety at Work Forum
Sofia, October 8 (BTA) - The Bulgarian public has become aware that investments in the environment and the conditions at work and social policy are important, Labour and Social Policy Minister Ivaylo Kalfin said. He was speaking at Thursday's opening of a forum titled "Environment, Health and Safety at Work" organized by the Srednogorie Med Industrial Cluster in Sofia.
Business circles no longer perceive such investments as severe rule imposed by Europe, Kalfin said. They are aware that the environment and health and safety at work are our gain and that they contribute to the environment we want to live in and work.
An increasing number of companies in Bulgaria set aside investments to that end, Kalfin added. Naturally, the larger companies meet the highest standards while smaller ones find it more difficult to meet the requirements. However, in general terms the economy is moving in this direction.
The EC will come out with new proposals related to the conditions of work, with a particular focus on the ways to circumvent good practices by relocating workers, self-employment and others, Kalfin said.
