Four Masked Persons with Submachine Guns Rob Cash-in-transit Vehicle in Sofia

Sofia, February 22 (BTA) - Four masked persons armed with submachine guns robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle in Sofia, the Interior Minister said Monday. The armed robbery took place at one of the underground parking's levels of The Mall on Tsarigradsko Chaussee Boulevard. The perpetrators fired at the vehicle and stole around 200,000 leva. No one was injured during the robbery.

The VIP Security company said in a message to the media that their guard was attacked from behind and knocked down. He managed to fire at the robbers' car and hit its tyre. The team from the cash-in-transit vehicle acted in full conformity with the company's internal rules and procedures, and undertook the best possible measures to limit the damage and prevent human losses, the message reads.

Later on Monday, the perpetrators' car was found abandoned in Sofia's Mladost residential area, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.
