MEPs of Movement for Rights and Freedoms Alert EC About Possible Ban for Entry of Two Bulgarian Politicians into Turkey

Sofia, February 24 (BTA) - The MEPs of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) have sent a letter to two EU commissioners in relation to a possible ban for entry of Bulgarian nationals into Turkey, the party's press centre said Wednesday.

The MEPs addressed the letter to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

"In their letter, the MEPs express their concern caused by media publications and the subsequent speculations. Given the increased public interest in Bulgaria, the MRF representatives turn to the EU commissioners to request assistance in establishing the facts. They hope for a more speedy reaction to the situation, which is of mutual interest for the EU and a candidate country [Turkey] for EU accession," the press release reads.

According to media publications, Turkey recently imposed a ban for entry of MRF honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan and MP Delyan Peevski in the country. According to some publications, the ban also concerns other MPs and high-ranking members of the MRF.
