Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, February 24 (BTA) - In 2015 Bulgarian-made wines won 150 gold prizes at international festivals, fairs and tastings in the world, Chairman of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine (EAVW) Krassimir Koev told a news conference at the opening of the 24th edition of the Vinaria International Exhibition of Wine-making and Vine-growing.

EAVW data show that in 2015 the Bulgarian wine-making enterprises processed 195,860 t of grapes and produced 36,680,527 l of wine. Wine exports in 2015 exceeded 50 million litres while domestic consumption totalled between 110 and 120 million litres. Koev said that the quality of Bulgarian-made wines and liquors has increased.

Fifty Bulgarian and foreign cellars present new collections of wines and liquors at this year's edition of Vinaria. The event is "the dress rehearsal" for the global wine forum Concours Mondial de Bruxelles due at the end of April in Plovdiv.
