Bulgaria's Biggest Migrant Risk Could Come from Greece - PM Borissov

Sofia, March 25 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told Parliament at Friday's Question Time that the biggest risk for a break through Bulgaria's border could come from Greece.

Borissov said: "That border is very long, it is not guarded, and the Greek government has failed to take measures for several months; the deployment of NATO ships is not producing results either." Bulgaria is ready to put up a light fence if a large group of migrants try to enter. That is also why there is a maximum concentration of  personnel and financing there, he added.

Conditions in Greece are very bad, unlike the transit camps in Macedonia, which are gravelled and have playgrounds, he said.

Borissov assured the MPs that all movements of groups of migrants were being monitored and the information was available to the services.

The public's concerns are justified, the world is stressed out, he said. "With the summer approaching, we are making security plans for Russian holidaymakers, whose number is expected to double [from last year], the same as for Israeli tourists."

Borissov hopes the new anti-terrorism legislation will sort out all problems facing the services. For instance, they cannot always establish a person's nationality in 24 hours as required by the effective legislation.
